From Apollodorou 6, Kerkyra, Corfu
I arrived late Monday after being up almost 30 hours.
I arrived late Monday after being up almost 30 hours.
It is now mid Thursday and a lot of jet lag and photo activity has accompanied my return to being with Antonios and Maria in Corfu.
I don't know how to explain it other than to say it seems as if I have been away for only a few days instead of two years.
So.
I had waited to long to buy my ticket so I could not get a window seat.
My view from across the aisle as we took off.
It was an eight hour plus flight through the night, direct to Athens.
Some watched movies and some watched the plane crossing the Atlantic.
I had an eight hour layover before flying to Corfu. I felt to tired to go into the city but there is a very nice museum exhibit in the airport replicating some of the Acropolis museum holdings.
When you descend into Corfu the flight path goes over this wonderful island.
Money talks. You can see the formal staircase going from the boat landing up to the buildings.
As I implied, memories are reawakened.
The subtlety of color and light.
Very normal, Antonios grading student papers.
You see his camera shelf in the background.
The archway is for a former door that went to a building, now gone, bombed away in WWII. You can see how thick the walls are.
Their building/home was built in the late 1700's. The exact date is not known.
The ladder goes up to their bedroom loft. The ceiling of the overall room is higher than fifteen feet.
You see the arch of the shelves in the lower left, Antonis is coming down the ladder from the bedroom loft. He has done εξτενσιβέ extensive work on rebuilding and "reformatting" their home.
Maria brought is some flowers and put them in a complimentary cup.
The darkening sky last night
And the sunset.
And Today.
We have been working on replicating some experiments by Jeff Schewe, an international expert in Photoshop and Lightroom.
Two of Maria's paintings against the white walls are our subject for over and under exposure tests.
You can see the enlarged area from the window frame.
The lighting was different at test time.
The upper image is from two stops overexposure
The middle image is normal exposure
The lower image is two stops underexposure.
ALL have been brought into a similar set of middle value.
Anyway, without the technical explanation, you can see we are working away.
Ta Leme
